Assemble meals, serve up some turkey, and help out those in need. 

The holidays are a time to count our blessings and give back to those that may not be as fortunate. There are several ways to donate your time or money in the metro area this season. And while it’s a good time of year to spread good cheer, many of these organizations need year-round volunteers, so any time of the year is a great time to help out.

Denver Rescue Mission

A Turkey for Every Table 
Nov.14-21 (Turkey Toss)
Every Thanksgiving, the mission provides a traditional meal to those in need. You can donate food items, help collect foodstuffs, or donate money online to help pay for the meals.

Volunteers of America

Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner Distribution 
Nov. 19
Help distribute baskets containing a full turkey dinner to families in need.   

Basket of Joy 
Volunteers are needed to help assemble holiday fruit baskets, and other duties, as well as deliver baskets to seniors in the community.

Christmas Turkey Dinner Distribution 
Dec. 17-18
Support a family in need and help distribute a full turkey dinner.

Adopt-A-Family, Adopt-A-Participant, and Adopt-A-Program 
Brighten up the holiday for those in need by adopting a family or individual during the season.

Snow Buddies 
Help out the seniors in your neighborhood by volunteering to shovel snow when we get snowfall deeper than one inch.

Operation Turkey

This entire volunteer organization works to ensure everyone receives a meal on Thanksgiving Day. Volunteers are needed for meal prep and more. There are several locations in Colorado that you can give your time: Colorado SpringsDenver, and Fort Collins.

Denver Catholic Worker Soup Kitchen

Denver Catholic Worker Soup Kitchen needs volunteer shoppers, cooks, and servers to help the increasing number of meals needed during the winter season. Donations are also always welcome.

TLC Meals on Wheels 

TLC Meals on Wheels is an independent non-profit organization that delivers hot meals to seniors in the south metro Denver area. It’s in need of year-round volunteers, but you can also specifically volunteer for the holiday 12 days of gifts program.  

Feed a Family

Nov. 16-17
Assemble Thanksgiving baskets and help a worthy cause that feeds on average 37,000 people a year. Donations are also welcome.
