Over the river and through the woods, the Great Pumpkin Haul is the fall activity you didn’t know you needed!

Picture this: it’s a lovely fall Saturday in Colorado, and you’re picking out a pumpkin at Chatfield Farms’ pumpkin patch. Sounds about right, yes? Except that after you pick it, you and your newly chosen pumpkin will embark on a journey together through a fall-themed obstacle course — in the aptly named “Great Pumpkin Haul”!

WHEN: Saturday, Oct. 28 | 9:30 a.m.–12 p.m.
WHERE: Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farms | 8500 W. Deer Creek Canyon Rd., Littleton, CO 80128
TICKETS: Registration is $50/adult ($60/adult on the day of) | Teams receive $5 discount per person

You’ll haul your pumpkin for two miles — over a variety of obstacles! Carry it in a sling or in a backpack (if you must!) as you travel on foot through woods and plains and over creeks, hay bales, and other fun hurdles.

Prizes are awarded for the person who hauled the heaviest pumpkin, the person who successfully completed the course with two pumpkins (and no carrying accessories), the person and group with the best costume (it is Halloween after all), and the team with the most members. Each participant receives a commemorative t-shirt, free photos, a finishers medal, and (last but not least) ownership of their pumpkin!

Hang around after the Haul for an award ceremony, live music, hot cider, food trucks, hay rides, corn maze, face painting, and a mini kids’ course! It’s a great family event, and kids 5 and under are FREE. And it’s all for charity! For more information, check out the event’s website.

So have you done the Great Pumpkin Haul before? Are you participating this year? Tell us all about it in the comments!
